SUMMARY:CFA Society of Columbus: The eternal sunshine of the Fed mind: Where are interest rates heading next?
DESCRIPTION:Who will be our next President? Do I have restless leg syndrome? Where is Princess Kate? Should I HOLD my Bitcoin? Is Chipotle’s chicken Al pastor really that good? These are some of the profound questions facing investors today that we will not explore at my afternoon session. Instead\, we will examine the current state of the economy through the lens of monetary policy and interest rate markets. And we will attempt to make some educated guesses about where we could end up next year. We’re all living in a computer simulation\, so what do you have to lose?

SUMMARY:Rwabutaza Institute of Investing Seminar Series: How To Manage Your Finances Effectively and Efficiently For Your Personal Finance\, Your Business and Your Organization
DESCRIPTION:Topic: How To Manage Your Finances Effectively and Efficiently For Your Personal Finance\, Your Business and Your Organization  \nThere are eight pillars for effective and efficient financial management. They are: (1) Budgeting\, (2) Double-Entry Book-Keeping\, (3) Accounting\, (4) Financial Statement Analysis\, (5) Saving\, (6) Debt Management\, (7) Investing\, and (8) Taxes\, Insurance and Estate Planning. \nIn this talk\, we will look at how to manage finances effectively and efficiently by using these eight pillars for your personal finance\, your business\, and your organization. \nThe first pillar\, Budgeting\, refers to creating a plan to spend one’s funds. The second pillar\, Double-Entry Book-Keeping\, is a robust system of recording financial transactions comprehensively and accurately in well organized ledgers\, accounts and journals. It is a system with checks and balances to ensure data integrity and accuracy. The third pillar\, Accounting\, refers to the process of keeping financial accounts and financial statements\, which are written records that convey business activities and the financial performance of a company. Financial statements are often audited by government agencies\, accountants or firms to ensure accuracy and for tax\, financing\, or investing purposes. The fifth pillar\, Saving\, refers to depositing a portion of one’s income. Saving is deferred consumption. In regards to the sixth pillar\, Debt Management\, a credit score is a number that serves as a prediction of how likely an individual or entity is to pay a loan back on time based on the information from one’s credit reports. Credit score management refers to managing credit score factors\, five of which are one’s payment history\, total debt\, usage of available credit\, length of credit history\, credit mix and new credit. The seventh pillar\, Investing\, refers to a commitment of finances and assets to generate more returns later. SUMMARY:Rwabutaza Investing Club Seminar Series: CFA Society of Columbus Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Please join CFA Columbus in welcoming Meera Pandt\, Executive Director\, a Global Market Strategist on the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Global Market Insights Strategy Team as our guest speaker. \nWe will also recognize all of our volunteers for FY2023! \n“Navigating Macro Murkiness: A Guide to the Markets” \nThe first half of 2023 has been volatile with several unpleasant surprises\, kindling concerns that 2023 will be a repeat of 2022. However\, disinflation is setting in\, the Fed is near the end of its rate hiking cycle\, and growth has been resilient. Although there may be pain ahead for the economy\, economic cycles and market cycles do not always  tightly align\, and historically markets have bottomed before the economy\, the labor market\, and earnings. With the significant reset in valuations that already took place in both stocks and bonds last year\, 2023 could be a year of economic pain\, but also one of market recovery with many investments providing attractive long-term opportunities. \n \nMeera Pandit\, Executive Director\, is a Global Market Strategist on the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Global Market Insights Strategy Team. Meera is responsible for delivering timely market and economic insights to institutional and retail clients\, conducting research on the global economy and capital markets\, and running economic forecasts. She is also responsible for publications such as the Guide to the Markets and is a contributor to the J.P. Morgan Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions. \nMeera is also a frequent guest on Bloomberg\, Yahoo! Finance\, CNBC\, CNN\, and other financial news outlets and is often quoted in the financial press. \nMeera joined the firm in 2011 as an analyst in J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank in New York\, where she served ultra-high and high-net worth clients. She has also held business strategy roles in Asset Management in New York and London. \nMeera earned a B.A. in English from Tufts University and holds Series 7 and 63 licenses. She is a CFA charter holder. Meera was featured as Market Watch’s “Forecaster of the Month” in February 2020.
